Interview Summary

For my Analytical Report, I interviewed Bryan Earnest, the CEO and President of Amperage Marketing & Fundraising. In the field of Marketing, Mr. Earnest explained how that during his average workday he’ll spend about 4-6 hours every day just writing. Whether that being through emails, presentations or taking notes in meetings, this is a good amount of writing and it’s very important to get it correct. When writing, Mr. Earnest suggested that you should be brief and get to the point quickly as well as being concise and making your thoughts easy to follow. While going through various sources to use for this report, many recommended these exact same methods. This seems like some great information that I can use in the future while practicing this type of writing. Mr. Earnest gave an example in which he had to write a paper, two pages, for one of his classes and when they went up to present, the professor threw away the second paper. This was a lesson to mention your most important points right away and to keep the pointless points either near the end or just not in the paper at all. Another great piece of advice that Mr. Earnest explained was certain classes he recommended that he felt help him succeed the most. One group of classes that he said helped him more than anything was Journalism. Since Marketing relies on talking to multiple companies and the people heavily, this is something that would help me thrive and potentially set myself in a better situation than others. Throughout this interview, I  have realized and learned much more about what the expectations are and the format of the writing in my field. Getting to the point and being concise is crucial in the business field and I believe that this is something that I should be able to learn quickly.
