My Topic: Are cell phones dangerous while driving?

Introduction:
Technology has become so relevant in today's society that we ultimately don't even realize what effects it can cause. Driving is a privilege and if we choose to abuse it, it can become very dangerous, and possibly deadly. Using cell phones while driving can be seen as a very good thing as it allows us to pull up directions to virtually anywhere in the most efficient way possible, it also allows us to make calls and sometimes listen to music. Even though there are many ways that show the benefits of cell phones, there are also many negatives. Texting while driving has become a huge issue and has lead to many deaths worldwide. Texting takes our focus off the road which then makes the driver vulnerable to oncoming cars. Taking calls while driving can have the same effects if you don't find a safe way to do it. Throughout this paper, I hope to find the safest ways to use cell phones while driving, as well as the most effective to do so.

Methods

Methods Participants:             The 36 participants in this study mostly consisted of college students from the University of Iowa ranging from freshman all the way up to seniors and grad students. There were also participants from other colleges in the state of Iowa such community colleges and a variety of four-year universities. Procedures:             The participants of this study were asked to answer a 7 question survey asking various questions surrounding the topic, " if the use of cell phones affect students in a negative way academically ".
